Here is a typical day in my life incorporating things which I have learned have much health value. Now you may think that this takes a lot of time and thought, but not so. There are a lot of things that we can do for ourselves that do not take much time or effort if we only knew about them – which is why I am sharing them.
I am sure that you can add to the list. I welcome your questions and rumblings – maybe even rantings.
Before rising
- While lying on back, rub tummy firmly in clockwise motion to get rid of any bubbles in the digestive tract before adding more food
- Do stretching exercises for arms and legs
Shower Time
- Pre-shower – Dry skin brushing with natural bristle brush
- Shower – Wash with soap using a shorter brush (no, I don’t make my own)
- Wash hair with homemade shampoo and rinse with Kombucha tea
- End shower with cool or cold water *This is the most important chore of the day*
- Post-shower – Cold foot bath in tub in bath tub
Brush Teeth
Braun electric brush
Dress
- Face cream – homemade
- Foot cream – homemade or Bag Balm
- Varicose vein tincture on ankles (remember I am old!)
- I try to dress with natural fiber clothes. (As well as use only cotton sheets)
Pre-Breakfast
Hot water with lemon juice
Breakfast
- Toast and juice or yogurt, fruit and granola – all homemade
- Eggs 2 – 3 times a week
- Cooked cereal – oats, cornmeal, wheat, rice with millet, etc.
- Fresh sliced tomatoes and cottage cheese
- Vitamin pills and herbal tinctures
My goal is to eat real food – as much as possible – nothing processed.
Daily walk in fresh air
- I also like to walk barefoot on the grass or dirt for a few minutes.
- It is good also to give your eyes a 10-minute sun bath without glasses on.
- I purpose to take deep breaths periodically during the day.
Pre-Bed
- Another cold foot bath
- eye wash using cold water in eye cup (occasionally)
- Face cream

Hi again. About the cooling off shower, I also wanted to tell you that the real advantage to that (besides the stimulation of nerves and circulation) is that the cool water immediately restores the body’s pH levels back to normal. When the body gets hot it becomes more acidic. It will naturally balance out in time, but this does it quickly, which is less stressful to the body.
Good for you for trying! Once you get used to cooling off, you won’t be able to get out w/o doing it – even if you have a cold or in the dead of winter. “Course, I’m the ‘cold-water queen’!
Remembering to deep breathe is definitely harder. I do it when getting in and out of bed, when I walk up the hill, and the rest is hit and miss. Thanks for commenting.
I’m trying to remember to end my showers with cold water. I always feel so much better when I do that, but it’s not a habit for me yet, so I forget pretty often {{{sigh}}}. I’m also trying to remember to do some deep breathing every day. I think I need to put up sticky notes on my mirror or something (guess I need a waterproof one for the shower! I could put it in a baggie and hang it up, I suppose).
